Description
Breaking Down Barriers to Learning
This teacher training session aims to help educators recognize and understand defense mechanisms that students may unconsciously use to protect themselves from internal stress. By identifying these behaviors—such as denial, projection, distortion, and dissociation—teachers can develop empathy and better support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
Participants will explore the concept of defense mechanisms as unconscious resources used by the ego to reduce emotional distress, and how these mechanisms can manifest in the classroom. By gaining insight into why students employ these strategies, teachers can create a more compassionate and responsive learning environment that encourages emotional growth and academic success.
The course will offer practical tools for breaking down these barriers, helping students feel safe and supported while addressing the underlying emotional challenges that hinder their learning.
