Do you want a platform to express your ideas and experiences while helping shape the future of dance and mental health for young people? At Streetz Ahead, we’re looking for passionate young visionaries to join our Youth Board and lead us into the 21st century!
As a Youth Board member, your insights and personal experiences will be at the heart of what we do. Here’s what you’ll be up to:
● Attend Key Meetings:
Join one trustee meeting each year and take part in three Youth Board meetings per school term. You’ll be contributing directly to the big decisions shaping Streetz Ahead’s future!
● Be a VIP at Our Events:
You’ll get exclusive invites to all our annual events as a VIP guest! It’s your chance to meet key stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the wider Streetz Ahead family, while having some fun.
● Share Your Voice:
Use your personal experience and unique perspective to help us understand what young people need in terms of mental health support. You’ll be guiding us in the right direction by keeping our focus on what really matters.
● Lead and Influence:
Got a project idea? As a Youth Board member, you’ll have the opportunity to lead your own initiatives and help bring your vision to life!
● Be a Changemaker:
Take your role to the next level by becoming a strong advocate for mental health, inclusion, and positive change. Your ideas will help shape the way we support young people facing challenges like racism, ableism, and identity struggles.

Meet our Youth Board!
Aria (10 yrs)
Hi, I’m Aria.
When I was little, I used to go and watch musicals at the theatre. Seeing the dancers, singers and actors on stage inspired me, and I always thought to myself, “I wish that was me!”
That’s what encouraged me to start dancing, because I thought it would be so much fun. Now, I’m proud to be dancing with Streetz Ahead and doing something I’ve always dreamed of.
I wanted to join the Youth Board because I would love to share my ideas, help make Streetz Ahead even better, and encourage other people to enjoy dancing as much as I do.

I wanted to join the youth board because I want to be more involved in Streetz ahead and help with future events with improvement and the running of them.
Eliza (16 yrs)
I think that young people’s voices are incredibly important especially if they have had the experience of being part of the streets ahead community which I have been. I would like dance to be a safe place for many to enjoy themselves and to feel comfortable in expressing themselves.

I want to help children feel comfortable in the dance environment and encourage more kids to come outside of their shell.
Pretty (15 yrs)
I wanted to join the Youth Board because I want to help young people become more confident and feel comfortable in their own bodies. I hope to make a positive impact on younger children, as well as people my own age, by encouraging them to believe in themselves.
I want everyone to know that they can achieve anything they set their mind to if they work hard, stay determined, and never give up.

As a performer and a young person, I can share ideas and opinions from a young person’s perspective and help come up with ideas that can be achieved.
I wanted to join the Youth Board because it’s important to me that young people have a voice, feel listened to, and enjoy being part of Streetz Ahead. Being on the Youth Board gives me the opportunity to contribute to decisions and makes me feel part of a supportive community.
One idea I would love to see is more performances at schools and PAC (Performing arts club), as this would give us the chance to gain different experiences, build our confidence, and become more comfortable performing in a variety of settings.

My name is Sharon, I’m 15 years of age and I was born in north London. I would like to be apart of the youth board as I believe the youth should have a voice in decisions that affect them and I would love to help be that voice. Dance and mental health are closely intertwined and can be a source of light for young people therefore I would like to be apart of this aid.
