Elizabeth

Founder & CEO

I’m Elizabeth Lahav, and I started Streetz Ahead in 1995 with a simple mission: to create a space where kids could dance, express themselves, and grow—without all the rigid rules and pressures I experienced as a child in traditional dance classes. Growing up, I loved to dance, but the leotards, strict hairstyles, and competitive atmosphere nearly killed that passion for me. By 25, I knew I wanted to do things differently, so I set up local dance clubs in Tottenham with six young people I met at a youth club. After a standout performance at a Wood Green mall, I knew we were onto something special.

Since then, Streetz Ahead has evolved into much more than dance. With the help of my husband Harry, who joined in 1998, we’ve built programmes that foster not only physical fitness but also mental well-being and creativity. We offer dance, mentoring, creative therapies, theatre, and even staff training—all with the goal of helping young people and their families thrive. Our belief is simple: “It takes a village to raise a child.” And with our holistic approach, we’re committed to working with children, parents, and teachers to create lasting impact, helping the next generation find their voice, build confidence, and shape their futures.

Harry

Executive & Programme Director

Hi, I’m Harry, Programme Director at Streetz Ahead! My journey with the charity began way back in 1998 as a dance teacher, offering free dance sessions to schools across Haringey. It wasn’t long before I found myself also in charge of music and DJing for our shows and events, which kept things exciting!

Along the way, I transitioned into a Learning mentor, and eventually, a primary school teacher, working with children with complex needs and even setting up behavioural departments in Haringey schools. I took a step back from Streetz Ahead in 2014 but returned part-time in 2018 to lead the Dance Giants programme.

In 2023, I decided to leave teaching and dive back full-time with Streetz Ahead, stepping into the role of Programme Director in early 2024. Now, I get to focus on running our BASE and Dance Giants programmes, while also training and mentoring both staff and children. It’s been a wild ride, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Taylor

Administrator, BASE Mentor & Dance Teacher

Hi, I’m Taylor! My dance journey started young with Street Dance, and I’ve since added Contemporary and Ballet to my repertoire. I absolutely love performing—whether it’s starring in pantomimes, dancing in music videos, or hitting the road with LIFT. Over the past four years at Streetz Ahead, I’ve had the chance to dive deep into choreography, which has been a thrilling ride.

I graduated with a degree in choreography and had the exciting opportunity to dance on a BBC show, leading to promotions on BBC social media and spots in national adverts. I’m passionate about blending creativity with technique and can’t wait to keep pushing boundaries in dance and performance.

Francesco

Dance Teacher

Hey! I’m Francesco, and my journey in dance is driven by a passion to become an Artistic Director and choreographer. Dance has always fascinated me with its power to empower and express. I’ve had the pleasure of working with BoyBlue Ent, Breakin Convention, and InDaHouse, which has enriched my understanding of the art. I’ve also showcased my choreography on platforms like Studio 3 Arts: Vital Stage and UEL’s Scratch Lab. With a First-Class Honours in Dance: Urban Practice from the University of East London, I’m thrilled to keep pushing boundaries and growing as an artist, both in the studio and on stage!

Arlene

Dance Teacher

Hi, I’m Arlene! My dance journey kicked off at the tender age of 2 and a half with my first ballet class at Brenda Keys School of Dance. I went on to dive deep into the world of performing arts at the Bodywork Company in Cambridge, where I snagged a Level 6 Diploma.

Over the years, I’ve danced and choreographed for awesome artists like Max Marlow and Kat Penkin, and lit up stages at Pride UK, Black Pride UK, and Move It. I’m passionate about sparking creativity in kids through dance, boosting their confidence, and having a blast while working together as a team. Let’s dance and dream big!

William

Drama Teacher & BASE Mentor

Hi, I’m William! I’m a Drama Teacher, Theatre Practitioner, and Emerging Artist based in North London. After graduating with First Class Honours in Inclusive Performance in 2023, I’ve been lucky enough to work in a variety of roles, from event coordinating to live theatre. Some highlights include performing at Wembley Stadium for the UEFA Cup Final opening act with Lenny Kravitz, and at the Royal Court Theatre in Katzenmusik.

At Streetz Ahead, I wear many hats as a BASE Mentor, Dance Giants Mentor, Drama Teacher, and Physical Theatre Teacher, helping young people unlock their creativity and confidence through performance.

Ebony

Dance Teacher

Hey there! I’m Ebony Robinson, and I’m thrilled to share my dance journey with you. I kicked off my dance adventure with commercial and hip-hop moves before diving into full-time study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Dance, where I expanded my repertoire to include ballet, jazz, and contemporary techniques.

I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work with a mix of artists from diverse backgrounds, including Marcus Jarrell Williams, Jgrrey, Jona Dance, V V Brown, Little Sims, Kloe Dean, Joseph Toonga, and Fubunation. Each collaboration has been a unique experience, enriching my love for dance and performance.

What really drives me is my passion for promoting diversity in dance and fostering positive, creative environments where everyone can thrive. Teaching is my joy—I believe in making the art of performance accessible to all and inspiring people to express themselves in the most creative ways possible. Let’s dance, create, and express ourselves together!

Sophia

Events Coordinator & Social Media/Marketing Manager

Hi, I’m Sophia! I’m the Events Coordinator, Social Media/Marketing Manager, and also a Base Mentor here at Streetz Ahead. My journey in events started when I was just 14, organising an anti-gun and knife crime campaign at my local youth club in Edmonton, as well as getting involved in Tottenham Carnival. That passion for community and creativity led me to study Music and Live Events, where I had the opportunity to organise events for the UK music scene.

In addition to my events work, I was also a makeup artist for music videos and spent time teaching music performance at a music college. Now, I get to bring all of that experience to Streetz Ahead, where I love empowering young people and helping them express themselves creatively. Whether it’s through events, mentoring, or making our social media pop, I’m all about making a positive impact!

Hi, I’m Lydia! I make fundraising a fun adventure, helping artists and arts charities achieve their dreams. With a passion for storytelling and a background in writing, I create compelling narratives for every funding application.

When I’m not writing, you’ll find me with a (decaf) coffee, lost in a book, or working on my own stories. I also love gardening and exploring local bookshops, often while listening to one of my favorite podcasts.

Previously a music promoter, I’ve booked bands from around the world. Now, I channel that love for storytelling and detail into turning dreams into reality through my work.

Rahul Ebi

Entrepreneur

Hey, I’m Rahul Ebi – a dance choreographer with a flair for hip-hop and Bollywood, and a creative force behind the camera as a filmmaker and photographer. I’ve danced across the globe and, back in 2009, I had the amazing opportunity to work with Elizabeth from Streetz Ahead, who helped shape my vision and sparked my entrepreneurial journey.

Even a broken leg couldn’t stop me – I kept pushing forward, and now I run Cinema Edits Ltd, a top name in the UK’s South Asian wedding industry, with a network that stretches from Morocco to Dubai.

I love mixing up fusion and Bollywood styles, and I still team up with Streetz Ahead whenever I can. Giving back is close to my heart, whether it’s fundraising for orphans or raising awareness about childhood bowel cancer. As a trustee for an international charity, I’m always looking for new ways to make a difference.

The future? I’m excited to keep collaborating with Streetz Ahead and exploring new frontiers in the industry!

Meet Kimberley! My journey began with a passion for dance and gymnastics, which led me to train as an ISTD and British Gymnastics teacher. I’ve taught at various dance academies and schools, focusing on using creative interventions to support those with social and emotional mental health needs.

I’m currently diving deep into my MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy, having completed two of the three years. Sylvia

Trustee

Hi, I’m Sylvia! With over 20 years of experience in some of London’s major art museums—Tate Britain, Tate Modern, The National Gallery, and the V&A—I’ve spent the last 15 years focusing on the cultural sector. I’ve created MA and Postgraduate modules that explore cultural policy, education, and entrepreneurship in museums and galleries.

During my time at Tate and The National Gallery, I gained a deep understanding of both the collections and the inner workings of these iconic institutions. I’ve lectured at Goldsmiths, the University of East London, and several other universities, and I’ve presented papers at international conferences across Europe and the Middle East.

I’m also a consultant, bringing entrepreneurial thinking to museum management in places like Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Uzbekistan. I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping shape the future of museums and galleries.

Mel

Secretary

Hi, I’m Mel! I’m a trustee at Streetz Ahead, and my daughter has been part of this wonderful community for the past six years. My career began in a psychiatric hospital, working with young people facing mental health challenges. I then moved into education as a KS4 Deputy Head of Year and later as a KS3 Head of Year. Currently, I’m a Safeguarding Officer at a local secondary school, ensuring students are safe and supported.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about fitness. I’m always aiming to beat my squat personal best (currently at 90kg) and love running along the canal to Westfield, no matter the weather. My goal is to help young people see and achieve their full potential, both physically and personally.

Darren

Trustee

Hi, I’m Darren! With a background in finance and banking, and a flair for graphic design, my biggest passion is music. When I’m not crunching numbers or creating graphics, you’ll find me immersed in the music scene. I’m a professional DJ, spinning tracks across the UK and Europe, and hosting weekly shows on three radio stations in America and Europe. I also love playing at festivals and club gigs.

Outside of music, I’m a graphic design enthusiast (Photoshop is my playground) and a dedicated gym-goer—my second home! I’m always up for a good laugh, especially if it involves a comedy.

I’m thrilled to be a part of Streetz Ahead because I’m eager to help guide young people, share my experiences, and encourage them to express themselves through music and art.

Susan

Trustee

Hi, I’m Susan James, and I’m thrilled to be a Trustee at Streetz Ahead. It’s a role that I cherish deeply, given my 15 years of experience working closely with Elizabeth to further our mission. My journey with Streetz Ahead began even before I took on this role, as my own children were part of the organisation, which gave me a firsthand view of its incredible impact.

Helping young people achieve their dreams has always been my passion, and I find great joy in contributing to this cause. I’m committed to supporting our mission and continuing to make a difference in the lives of children and families. Being part of Streetz Ahead allows me to give back to the community in a meaningful way, and I’m excited to continue this journey.
