Our Training Programmes:
Defence Mechanisms
Breaking Down Barriers to Learning
This teacher training session aims to help educators recognize and understand defense mechanisms that students may unconsciously use to protect themselves from internal stress. By identifying these behaviors—such as denial, projection, distortion, and dissociation—teachers can develop empathy and better support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
Participants will explore the concept of defense mechanisms as unconscious resources used by the ego to reduce emotional distress, and how these mechanisms can manifest in the classroom. By gaining insight into why students employ these strategies, teachers can create a more compassionate and responsive learning environment that encourages emotional growth and academic success.
The course will offer practical tools for breaking down these barriers, helping students feel safe and supported while addressing the underlying emotional challenges that hinder their learning.

Anxiety
Supporting Children with Anxiety: Understanding Emotional Needs and Resources
This training session focuses on understanding how anxiety affects children and equipping teachers with the skills to support students who experience it. By recognising the signs and behaviours of anxiety—such as avoidance, fidgeting, and difficulty concentrating—teachers will be better prepared to offer the right support.
Participants will explore strategies to create a calm and safe learning environment. This training will help teachers reflect on their own practices, fostering teacher-student relationships that reduce anxiety and support emotional well-being.
The training will also introduce the biological and scientific reasons for anxiety, including the concept of the “caveman brain” and how its fight-or-flight response has been heightened in today’s fast-paced, stress-filled society. Teachers will learn how this impacts children’s emotions and behaviours in the classroom. Non-verbal communication techniques and approaches for managing student work output with an emphasis on effort will be covered, helping teachers build supportive environments where anxious children can thrive.

Non-violent Communication
Building Positive Dialogue for a Supportive Workplace
This staff training course on Nonviolent Communication (NVC) equips participants with the skills to foster empathy-driven conversations, creating a safe and positive working environment. Participants will learn to identify effective questioning techniques, recognise underlying needs in communication, and request clear, actionable outcomes.
NVC is based on the principle that people are capable of compassion and that through non-judgmental, empathetic communication, we can find better ways to meet our needs without resorting to conflict. By modelling this approach, staff will not only enhance their own interactions but also serve as role models for young people, empowering them to adopt healthier, non-violent ways of expressing themselves.
Join us to cultivate a more inclusive, supportive, and harmonious workplace, where open communication is the foundation for positive relationships.
