Elizabeth Lahav Talks Dance Movement Psychotherapy on BBC Radio London

Following Streetz Ahead’s incredible win at the BBC Make a Difference Active Award 2025, our Founder and CEO, Elizabeth Lahav, was invited to speak with Kim Davis on BBC Radio London to discuss her pioneering work as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist (DMP).
In this insightful interview, Elizabeth addressed some of the common myths and misunderstandings surrounding Dance Movement Psychotherapy, explaining what it is and why it can be such a transformational therapeutic approach.
Elizabeth shared that “if trauma lies in the body, it must find a way to come out through the body.” DMP offers individuals a safe and creative way to reconnect with themselves — helping people become more flexible in their bodies, which in turn can lead to greater flexibility in the mind. Over time, this process supports people in working through past trauma and moving forward with renewed awareness, strength, and emotional freedom.
During the interview, Elizabeth explained that Dance Movement Psychotherapy is not about dancing for performance, but about using movement as a language for healing — a way to express what words often cannot. Through gentle, guided movement, participants can access emotions stored deep within the body and gradually learn to release them in a safe, supported environment.
Streetz Ahead is offers opportunities for individuals to experience this work through both group sessions and 1:1 therapy, creating accessible pathways for people to benefit from this powerful, embodied approach to wellbeing.
If you’re interested in learning more about Dance Movement Psychotherapy or taking part in future sessions, please get in touch — we’d love to share more about how this creative form of therapy is helping people transform their lives.
A huge thank you to BBC Radio London and Kim Davis for giving Elizabeth the space to shine a light on the power of movement, creativity, and connection in healing.
A truly inspiring next step in the Streetz Ahead journey.
