Liz Returns to BBC Radio to Champion the Joy of Dance

Streetz Ahead CEO Liz was delighted to return to BBC Radio to speak with Gaby Roslin about making a difference through dance and why it’s time to rethink how we view movement.

During the interview, Liz shared her passion for making dance accessible to everyone and reflected on how society’s relationship with dance has changed over the years.

She explained that throughout history and across many cultures, dance has always been a natural part of life. People danced to celebrate milestones, mark holidays, express grief, take part in ceremonies, and bring communities together. There were no judges, no pressure, and no expectation to be perfect—just the freedom to move and connect.

Today, however, many people are afraid to dance.

Whether it’s worrying about getting the steps right, being watched, or feeling they’re “not good enough,” the pressure to perform perfectly has stopped many people from experiencing the joy that dance can bring.

At Streetz Ahead, we’re passionate about changing that.

We believe dance should be for everyone, regardless of age, ability, or experience. It’s about expression, confidence, connection, and having fun—not perfection. Every class, workshop, and community event we deliver is built on the belief that there is no right or wrong way to enjoy dance.
