We Are Recruiting! Mentoring Support Assistants (School-Based)

We are looking for BASE Mentoring Support Assistants to work in North London schools, supporting children’s emotional, social and academic development. You’ll work alongside teaching staff to create a safe, inclusive environment where pupils can learn, regulate their emotions, and build confidence.

Location: North London (various primary and secondary schools)
Contract Type: Full time term-time only
Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm (school hours)
Pay: £90 per day (£15 per hour including 1 hour unpaid lunch break)
Start Date: Ongoing recruitment throughout the academic year
About the Role
As a BASE Mentoring Support Assistant, you will work within a school setting to support children’s emotional, social, and academic development.
You’ll work alongside teaching staff to create a safe, inclusive environment where pupils can learn, regulate their emotions, and build confidence.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting teachers in classroom, small group settings and during playtime.
Providing one-to-one mentoring to children identified as needing emotional or behavioural support.
Assisting with BASE wellbeing activities and creative sessions.
Promoting self-regulation, resilience, and positive communication.
Recording and reporting progress to the Streetz Ahead team.
Training and Support
All MSAs receive induction and ongoing training through our BASE Mentoring Programme, covering:
Safeguarding and Prevent
Manual Handling
Emotional Resilience and Regulation
Mental Health Awareness
SEN and Inclusion
Creative communication strategies (movement, play, and mindfulness)
Supervision and ongoing professional development are provided throughout your role.
What We’re Looking For
Experience supporting children or young people (school, youth, or community setting)
Empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills
A commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and positive behaviour support
Willingness to undertake regular training
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
