Good For Girls
Street Ahead have been selected to be part of the London Youth, Good For Girls programme. 15 girls aged 10-14 were selected to participate in this fully funded project.
The Good for Girls programme supports young women to access relevant, holistic early intervention mental health support in trusted community spaces. This includes support and guidance from trained youth professionals, and opportunities to develop relationships, skills and tools to maintain positive mental health. Young women get support earlier, meaning fewer require referral to specialist services.
The girls have been meeting every week on zoom for ‘Talking Circles’. They have also had some fantastic Sunday afternoon Art Sessions:
Yoga & Mindfulness
Prosthetic Make Up
The girls participated in a special effects workshop led by professional TV and Film make-up artist Tabitha Li. They learned basic prosthetic sculpting techniques and then went on to learn how to apply pre-made gelatine prosthetic cuts and wounds to their skin. They absolutely loved the session:
‘It was so much fun and one of the best lessons I have ever had’
‘Anybody can make something amazing even with no experience.’
Back Stage Team for Film Production
‘I loved it! Such a great experience’
